Gangtok-Darjeeling Trip in less than Rs 33000/- (Cost Detailing of the trip)

I made Gangtok/ Darjeeling trip in September this year (2018). As a normal person, I read many websites to know about what to do and what not to do in my trip. But there was one information which I didn’t get on internet which is 

how much money is needed for this whole trip??.


I thought to write it down myself so that it may help others.
This post shows my itenary as well as cost involved in everything I did on my trip.

No. of people: 2 adults and 1 infant

Duration of Trip: 1st to 6th September 2018 (5 nights)

Complete Details::

1st Sept
Delhi à Bagdogra::: Air Vistara 11 AM to 1 PM which was delayed by 1 hour i.e we landed at around 2 PM.
Rs 6800
1st Sept
Bagdogra à Gangtok :: Taxi. (Toyota Etios Liva ) Took us 5 hours including a stay at a local food shop for 30 minutes. We took the mobile number of Taxi Driver from our hotel 3 days before our trip to avoid any loss of time. The car was waiting for us at the airport.
Rs 2800 for Taxi

2nd Sept
Gangtok à Nathula Pass, Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake. A beautiful day trip which is tiring as well. Our Taxi Driver (Mr Andy) arranged for our permits and drove us to Police Barrier 3 kms before Nathula Pass. Only 76 SUV’s are permitted to go to Nathula Pass so we were adjusted in one of them from that point.
Rs 5500 for Taxi and permits
3rd Sept
Gangtok Local Visit.
Our visit included:

1. Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park
2. Gangtok Ropeway
3. Enchey Monastery
4. Do Drul Chorten (Stupa)
5. Flower Show
6. Rumtek Monastery

Andy dropped us at the Mall Road and we had to take another taxi from Mall road to our Hotel after Dinner.    
Rs 2000 for day trip
and
Rs 100 from mall road to hotel
4th Sept
Gangtok à Darjeeling via North Sikkim
This is another long drive. Places we covered:
1.       Namchi Town
2.       Siddheshwar Dham
3.       Lovers Meet view Point just before moving towards Darjeeling

Andy dropped us in our hotel which was in Ghum (far end of Darjeeling)

5th Sept
Darjeeling Local Visit which included:

1.       Batasia Loop in Darjeeling from where we got a clear view of Kanchenjunga mountain range. (Lucky we)
2.       Chunnu Water Falls
3.       Tea Gardens
4.       Mall Road for Lunch
5.       Darjeeling Zoo
6.       Indian Mountaineering Institute
7.       Japanese Peace Pagoda
Rs 2700 for Taxi
6th Sep
Darjeeling à Bagdogra via Mirik
This is one of the most beautiful road I have seen in my life. The curves are so beautiful that you will want to get down of your car and click pictures at every curve.
We also covered Pashupati Market in Nepal where we shopped with all our cash.

Bagdogra à Delhi
We reached Bagdogra at around 3 PM and our flight was at 5PM.

The total cost of flights and Taxi for 2 adults and 1 infant was Rs. 32393/-. 
This cost for everyone will remain nearly same and depends upon your negotiation skills with the Taxi Union which is very strong and doesnt believe in negotiation. The flights were booked in March 2018 but the prices of flights remain the same and will change +-20%.

Other cost involved will be your hotel room stay and your food bills which varies from person to person which is why I have not mentioned it here.

The above itenary is the best as I made it after reading on internet and consulting it with people who had been to Gangtok.

I work in one of the leading banks of India and major part of my work is either done on laptop or in meetings which means I stay indoors all the time of the day. But 9 hours of sitting job in a cubicle including 30 minutes of lunch was not the thing for me. No one in my office had time to talk to each other or share anything.
